Pope’s Mandates about Internet

A New Form of Evangelization

The following words from Pope Paul VI and Pope John Paul II are keys for us at BeaconsOfLight.net Internet Apostolate to go forth with our calling to bring the Good News of Christ using media and technology:

"It is our wish that Catholic institutions, in their various kinds, will follow with constant attention the development of the modern techniques of advertising and will know how to make opportune use of them in order to spread the Gospel message in a manner which answers the needs and expectations of contemporary man."

- Pope Paul VI, World Social Communications Day, 1977

“In fact, we have to confront the realities of this world every day.” Among these realities, Pope declared, the media play a key role. That is why, he said, he selected Internet as the theme for 2001 World Social Communications Day, “Internet: A New Forum for Proclaiming the Gospel.” “The most recent advancements in communications and information have put the Church in front of previously unheard-of possibilities for evangelization.”

On other occasion Pope said:

"I sense that the moment has come to commit all of the Church's energies to a new evangelization and to the mission ad gentes. No believer in Christ, no institution of the Church can avoid this supreme duty: to proclaim Christ to all peoples."

- Pope John Paul II

That's true, from the internet I learned a lot, especially in helping my faith to grow and God pushed me to the limit to know Him more.
