Don't Settle for Counterfeits!

I just bought new sunglasses today at “ITC Mangga Dua”, the center of counterfeit items in Jakarta. I got the sunglass for a relatively cheap price. USD 25.00 for a pair of branded sunglasses surely sounds amazing, right (yes, yes. I admit, I am lured by the cheap counterfeit items too)?

Maybe I got my just reward for supporting counterfeit productions and piracy. On my way home, I tried my new pair of sunglasses. They surely looked good. However, after 10 minutes, the right glass went off just like that. There go my new sunglasses (luckily, I had time to came back and ask the store to repair my sunglasses).

That event somehow reminded me of other more important counterfeit items in my life. How often have I settled for counterfeit happiness and peace that the world offers? The happiness and peace that the world offers do not last long. Only God can offer us happiness and peace that can last forever no matter what happens.

Counterfeit items sure look good. However, the quality is not as good as the real ones. The same works with happiness and peace. The happiness and peace that this world offers might look good. I believe they can be good. However, they are not good enough for us to settle into. God gives us the privilege to get the real thing through our baptisms and relationship with him. Do not settle for less!

God bless you all,
